Studded with celebs, fine jewels and embroidered gowns, the annual Cannes Film Festival slowly draws to a close, so we thought we’d highlight our favourite looks, trends and beauty. We’re talking tuxedos, embroidery, Blake Lively and lots of Chanel to wet your favourite international film event appetite.
Beauty
So to start off the long list of things we loved about this weekend-long event - Beauty. No look is complete without a well thought out process called make-up, it can dress up or down any gown, bold or nude lip? Eyelashes or no eyelashes? Smokey eye or subtle shadow? the list is endless, every detail is crucial, so beauty fanatics (like us) can sit and admire that eyeliner on fleek! Metallics
Sasha Lane showed off her hazel eyes with a kohl liner and metallic shadow, these colours really made her eyes stand out! Metallics are the perfect way to make that smokey eye a little bit bolder, or even to highlight a cut crease, nethertheless they are a must-have in your make-up wardrobe. Opt for metallics when you are too unsure as to how to do your eyes for a certain classy event or even to smother your lid on a day you can’t be bothered to try. You go Sasha!
Classics
Classic red lips and feline flicks are our favourite combo… especially on babe Alessandra Ambrosio! Perfect combination for this classy event, styled perfectly with her gracious up-do and elegantly simple jewels. Another safe option to head towards when getting ready for a night out, a first date, or even a dinner with friends! Guaranteed this team will go with almost anything in your wardrobe, and of course channel your inner 1920’s.
Trends
Have you and your best friend ever turned up to a party or dinner with the same outfit?! Well we think these guests definitely had a moment of realisation when seeing each other. Forget about SS16, Cannes Film Festival is the new trend forecaster for this seasons evening wear…
Tuxedos
These blonde babes were rocking the suit thing during the festival, sharing classic navy’s and blacks. However, these girls did well to keep each of their looks completely different, sporting a relaxed, jumpsuit vibe to a more structured tuxedo-without-a-shirt paired with long jewels - all completely red carpet ready! Two piece tuxedos are the perfect outfit to invest in when looking for a new style. You can create so many different outfits with a well-tailored blazer and trousers that are made to fit - trousers and a slouchy white T for a casual outdoor look, LBD worn with strappy heels and the blazer over your shoulders for a sophisticated, Kimmy K vibe or channel your inner Lily Donaldson with a full tuxedo and nothing else for a sexy, sophisticated look.
Blake Lively
We all know that Lively is the Queen of Style when it comes to cannes, every year she continues to wow us with her extravagant gowns, classic up do’s and oh so chic street style. This year Blake returns with more class, more gowns and more bump as she carries her second child (Congrats!) so here are our faves in the Blake Lively Style File this year (drum roll please)…
The Gossip Girl star stuck to a very strict colour palette of nudes, reds and blues this year, but we’re not complaining! The blond goddess didn’t refrain from showing her bump in tight fitted dresses nor did she look underdressed when dressing down. Blake found her inner Cinderella when wearing a pale blue ball gown, with a slight asymmetric hem and ruffles upon ruffles! We love her elegant and classy style, and we can’t wait to see more of her in 2016, pregnancy style!
Ralph & Russo
This brand has become well established in this years trends, worn by celebs such as Jourdan Dunn and Angelina Jolie, making themselves known by their lace detail, embroidery and over use of floral patterns. But this seemed to be a favourite in Cannes this yeas as Super Model Jordan Dunn steps on the red carpet with a crisp white ball gown, covered with gorgeous embroidered flowers (of course) definitely a look outside of Dunn’s comfort zone but we love it! Chanel Iman also opted for a two tone, organza embroidered dress and looked stunning! Hats off to you ladies, tres fabulous!
Kendall Jenner
We couldn’t write this post and not include the beautiful Kendall Jenner now could we…
The model made the red carpet her own this summer with her collection of stunning detailed dresses, away from her comfort zone and well away from anything she’s worn before. On top of this, she has just been nominated for Choice Female Hottie at the Teen Choice Awards! You go Kenny! She experiments with many different textures and patterns throughout the weekend and makes every single outfit her own, sporting most of them with a continuous up do, her outfits were far from boring. Her beauty choices included smokey eyes and a nude lip, or simple eyes and a bold lip, both of which Kendall is known for wearing continuously. The 21-year-old has definitely become her own among her 4 other sisters, especially in the fashion industry, and this festival has highlighted just why that is.
Airport Style
Even though the events draw to a close, style doesn’t stop there. “The world is your catwalk” as they all say, meaning the airport too! These celebs know how to travel comfortably and in style when departing from Cannes.
Casual Chic, Monochrome and Sophisticated hits Cannes airport this season when all rock the look cool, calm and collected look in very different ways. Sunglasses and the perfect carry on bag are a must, when departing in style, as well as an entourage of course! I find airports so interesting, they give me constant bursts of inspiration. Showing your true style whilst remaining completely effortless is a hard task, but airports are full of the succeeders. But of course, Karlie Kloss is the queen of airport must-haves and we all know it too…
